Out of the five places we stayed in Marloth park, this was the best. Truly amazing, though we had a few fewer animals come by than we’d hoped, maybe because it’s close to the tar road.

We booked in 15 Dec 2025. It was a pleasant stay otherwise, but there were no braai dishes, and the toaster was broken. There weren’t utensils to clean the braai area, not enough glasses for 16 people, and no black pot for potjie. The electricity box only had 4 units left, and the owner was in Australia asleep and couldn’t help.

We had a lovely time with friends, though the layout suits a family better since both bathrooms are en suites. The pool and entertainment area can only be reached through the main bedroom, so keep that in mind when assigning rooms. The kitchen was well equipped, and the hosts left tea, coffee, sugar, milk pods, and washing powder to get us started. Both rooms had king-sized beds, while the loft had six double beds, so there was loads of sleeping space. All rooms had air-conditioning, and both verandas had seating. The kids loved the animals that often came up to the house. The lodge manager was always friendly and helpful, housekeeping was excellent, and we appreciated the alarm and security. The TV had full DStv and Netflix, and the Wi-Fi was decent. Some mattresses have started to sag. The park has rules about noise and walking around after 6pm.

We had game come past the house every day, and the kids loved the animals and the routes around Matloth Park. The park has nice shops and restaurants for last-minute needs, though they cost a bit more than in town. They’re handy when you’ve forgotten something, since they have almost everything. Komatipoort is quite a drive, so stock up when you go into town. Crocodile bridge is a quick drive from the Park, and it made for a lovely Kruger experience overall. The lodge is just metres from the Marloth "main tar road". It has a nice front veranda and a "kuier" area with a small pool and braai, but that area is only reached through one bedroom. The open-plan kitchen is lovely and quite well equipped, with a washing machine. Each room has air-conditioning, plus another unit serves the loft, kitchen, and open area, which is great in summer. They left tea, coffee, sugar, and a few milk pods, which came in handy. There’s only a dining table for four even though the lodge sleeps at least ten. The six people in the loft have no bathroom of their own and share with the two ground-floor rooms, which have en suites. The bathrooms are quite small. The veranda room’s shower door was broken. When we called, they said they already knew about it, so it would have been nice if they’d fixed it before we arrived. The bedrooms could use some new mattresses.

What a great location. The facilities were fantastic, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. We loved it!
