The area is beautiful and the staff are very friendly, but the rooms are small and not maintained. I was in room 5, which was tiny, with a toilet that didn't flush properly and a terrible shower. At night, the guests next door had a party and the noise was unbearable. There was no security to help. I won't visit again.

I've been coming here for at least ten years and still haven't been disappointed. The service is excellent, the rooms are good, security is reassuring, and breakfast is a great feast. I hope others get the same experience I've had over all these years.

The place is beautiful and peaceful, and the staff are well mannered with great customer service. Our rooms were clean and nice, and the air conditioning helped a lot in winter. We hardly spent time there, since we left in the morning and came back at night. It's self catering; I didn't ask whether breakfast was available. We booked four rooms, all with showers, though I don't know if some have bathtubs. It would be nice to have microwaves in the rooms and rechargeable lights for loadshedding.

The staff were the one good part. Our family room had problems with the fridge and bed, and the couches and room were dirty. The staircase to the children's bedroom was broken, which felt risky. I've travelled to many places and never seen anything like it. The property isn't maintained, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The African food here was delicious and left a lasting impression, and the lodge has a calm atmosphere. The staff take good care of guests, making the stay memorable. Pensão Lodge combines modern amenities with traditional charm in the heart of Mpumalanga, and feels like a warm example of South African hospitality.
