We went for our 8th wedding anniversary on the 17th of Feb, and it was a letdown. The setting is really beautiful, but the expensive food didn't live up to the price. We don't mind paying when it's worth it. There was no service to speak of, and the atmosphere wasn't romantic either. I had to listen to a guy watching politics on his phone while we ate. I don't plan to go back.

The lady at the help desk was very helpful when I asked about the rooms, and our waitress was lovely. It's kid friendly too. We came for Sunday buffet lunch, and the food was divine, especially the farmstyle oxtail.

You could hear everything from the next room, and breakfast options were limited. My room smelled swanky, the bed had a brick, and the whole yard seemed to be in a wetland. The toilet had stains that I'm sure some thick bleach could deal with, and there were spider webs on the window. The room was filthy.

The food tastes like it was made with love by people who care about hospitality, and the service is beyond excellent. Rustique Boutique Hotel has an extraordinary atmosphere. It's the best place to spend time in Middelburg Mpumalanga. I'd give it 12/10.

We loved how peaceful it was here. The restaurant served really nice, tasty food.
