Little Sanctuary

We stayed in Eagle’s Nest, tucked up at the top beside a natural spring pool. It felt private and tranquil, surrounded by nature, and was a lovely spot for a romantic break. There are peaceful courtyards, lovely viewpoints, and little hidden corners all over the property. The place is adults-only, which suited us as a couple wanting to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy some quiet. Darlene, the owner, was warm and kind from my first inquiry and made us feel at home. The decor is a bit dated, but adds to the rustic charm, and everything we needed was provided in the fully self-catering unit. Our booking included free access to Avalon Hot Springs, which was a real bargain and one reason we chose the place. Unfortunately, Avalon was disappointing because the pools were cold, not hot. That wasn’t Montagu Little Sanctuary’s fault. We did have a minor plumbing concern in the bathroom, which we mentioned to Darlene. It was a peaceful, memorable stay, and we’d absolutely return. A real hidden gem in Montagu.

A beautiful place just beyond town, and a great spot for the night. The water tank cottage and pool have fabulous views.

It’s got plenty of charm, though some upgrading would help. The edges are looking a little tired.

So peaceful here, and Darlene is always ready to make sure guests are comfortable and have what they need. I’ll keep coming back, on my own or with a group.
