The hosts were friendly, the location convenient and the deck had a great view. Rooms were tidy and clean, with good showers and comfortable beds. The omelette was nice and the coffee superb. Privacy could be better: the walkway goes through the garden, and individual paths to each room’s glass door would help. Wider curtains with sun-block lining would help too. The stairs to the dining room and pool could be difficult for older guests or anyone less agile.

The rudest guesthouse I’ve ever dealt with. They seem to care about money and not their guests. Absolutely shocking. Don’t waste your time or money booking here.

I stayed three nights. The lodge is within walking distance of town, check-in and checkout were smooth, and there’s secure parking on site. My room was clean and a good size, with a spacious shower room. I had an issue with the o/s plug and Maud kindly sorted it out. My main disappointment was the worn bedding, towels and cushions, which really should be replaced. And why is the TV mounted so high near the ceiling? I rely on honest reviews when I book, so I was put off by an email from the accommodation saying Booking.com would ask me to rate and review, and that anyone giving at least 9/10 with a non-anonymous review would be entered into a lucky draw. It then listed “fantastic prizes.” I’ll give my honest opinion, but that’s why this isn’t a 9.

The deck had a stunning view both day and night, and we enjoyed the pool and breakfast in the cosy restaurant. Everything was clean and neat, and the accommodation suited us well. We were warmly welcomed by the kind host, her fur babies and the well-kept gardens. A lovely place to stay in Montagu, and a fun, relaxing Easter holiday for us. Thank you!

Friendly people, a tidy room with enough power points, a warm pool and safe parking. Best spot for the view.
