Gondwana Game Reserve

The safari drives are what we'll remember most. Gerrit took such good care of us and knew so much about the ecosystem, from big game to local plants. He shared it all in an engaging, fascinating way. Those morning and evening stops were brilliant too, sipping hot coffee with Amarula out in the African bush is a memory we'll treasure. My wife and I came to Gondwana Private Game Reserve for our honeymoon, and it was hands-down the highlight of our whole South Africa trip. We were blown away as soon as we arrived. The facilities are luxurious and beautifully designed to fit the landscape. Every meal was outstanding, and the kitchen staff made our evenings feel special. Gerrit's passion and knowledge are unmatched. If you're planning a South Africa trip, especially a honeymoon, do yourself a favor and book Gondwana. Ask for Gerrit if you can. We can't recommend the place highly enough.

We saw elephants at the waterhole right beside the lodge, and on the drive there were lions eating a buffalo, plus giraffes, rhinos, wildebeests and antelopes. Frans was a great guide and always made us feel safe. The food was delicious, the service really caring, and the accommodation breathtaking. A wonderful experience, thank you! If you're going on safari, this is the place.

The people are what made our stay stand out. Freedom, our guide, and Reuben, the conservation manager, were phenomenal with our three young children. They were patient, knowledgeable and answered every question about wildlife and vegetation. The rest of the lodge staff were just as warm and genuinely cared about our comfort. Food was excellent, portions were just right, and both the adults and kids loved the experience. For an intimate, authentic safari that works beautifully for a family, Gondwana was perfect for us. We stayed as a family of five in the Lehele villas. Our villa was pristine and beautiful, with spectacular views, a real "boujee bush" stay where modern amenities meet the wild. Highly recommend!

The lodge was lovely too: clean, comfortable rooms, a beautiful property, and a pool area that's perfect for relaxing. Food was consistently good, and service stayed friendly and attentive. My husband and I spent five days at Gondwana Game Reserve and enjoyed every moment. The drives were definitely the highlight. Anita was an excellent guide, experienced and knowledgeable, and she always made us feel safe and comfortable. Her explanations about the animals and their behavior made the outings even more interesting. We especially appreciated how she put the animals' well-being first. She also had a great instinct for finding them and positioning us to observe them well. We had a really positive stay and would recommend Gondwana Game Reserve to friends and family. It's a great choice for a well-organized safari in a beautiful setting.
