Mossel Bay Golf Lodge

The rooms were comfortable, clean, and accommodating, but the hostess didn’t make us feel welcome. There was little greeting or hospitality when we arrived at the lodge or came down for breakfast. Both breakfasts were wrong or badly undercooked. We’re vegetarian and had asked twice for our orders to be made without meat. One morning they brought bacon and eggs, and the hostess simply removed the bacon with her hands in front of us, even though the order was still incorrect. After room service had been through our room, one of my personal items was missing. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The location is great and the rooms are comfortable, so it works well for holidaymakers. For business travel, breakfast starting after 8am isn’t convenient. When I asked about an earlier breakfast, the host made no extra effort to help and said her contract only required her to serve after 8. My visits with Phillip Calitz onsite were pleasant, and he was accommodating.

The staff were very aware of Covid, and respected our requests about keeping social distance. We made good use of the facilities, including the sparkling pool, and the breakfasts were great. There were all the kitchen items we needed, and the Wi-Fi was fast. The bed was so comfortable that I slept really well. We had a fantastic stay over Christmas and hope to come back for another one. Thanks, Lawrence and Lizzy.

It’s neat and cosy, with friendly staff, a quiet setting, and a wonderful breakfast. Still, for a 4 star place, I expected a bit more. The carpets weren’t vacuumed during my 10 day stay. Dstv kept needing a reboot before the channels would play, and the aircon definitely needs fixing.
