The Beach Club, Mossel Bay

My stay at Beach Club Self-Catering Apartment was a nightmare. The apartment I got looked nothing like the one shown on the booking site, and what I paid for wasn't what I received. I arrived at 12:40 AM in freezing cold and heavy rain, but the manager refused to let me check in because I hadn't withdrawn the cash deposit yet. I explained what was happening and offered to leave my phone or car keys as collateral until morning, but she still wouldn't let me in. She showed no empathy or basic concern for my safety in those conditions. I had to drive around an unfamiliar town at night in terrible weather to find an ATM, even though the deposit could have been handled in the morning. Management showed no flexibility or understanding. They also initially demanded R1,800 for the deposit instead of the stated R1,500, and only agreed to the correct amount after I questioned it. Once inside, I found no hot water despite the freezing conditions, no Wi-Fi, and an uncomfortable, poorly maintained apartment. I felt mistreated and unsafe, and felt extorted. The manager on duty was unprofessional, unethical and completely unqualified to deal with guests. I strongly advise against staying here. Other places are much better managed and value their guests.
