Grey Goose Game Lodge is set in a beautiful, peaceful mountain location, and it has real potential for a lovely family Christmas. The venue itself is scenic, with families enjoying the day. But the buffet was poorly planned and managed. Nearly 30 tables were squeezed into a space that couldn't comfortably fit them, leaving little room to move or enjoy the atmosphere. Getting food meant standing in a queue of about 40 to 44 people. It wound through the dining area and right past seated guests, making things uncomfortable for everyone. One gentleman raised the issue because the line ran beside his table and made it hard for him and his guests to sit and eat comfortably. When he spoke to someone in charge, the team seemed unprepared. There was no quick fix, alternative setup, or clear effort to redirect people. For a Christmas event at a venue of this standard, I expected better spacing and crowd management. Staggered serving times, more buffet stations, or fewer tables could have helped a lot. The lack of planning and on-the-ground management overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable festive occasion.

Little bunnies and other game animals run around, and the kitchen serves good food. The rooms are a decent size, the service is good, and the location is great 😍😊👍

A lovely hidden gem in Newcastle Kzn, and a nice spot for kids to spend the day. The food takes a while, but it's worth the wait. Service could be better, as there were only a few staff around on the weekend.

We went for Christmas lunch as a group of 17, but the whole meal felt chaotic and badly organised, especially around the large family groups. The atmosphere wasn't festive at all, more like a school dining hall, and we had expected a beautiful Christmas experience. They say they do this all the time, but it really didn't feel like it. The queues were incredibly long. We waited ages for starters, then people rushed back into line for mains because everyone was hungry. Suddenly they wanted everyone to return to their seats and said they'd call each table, but guests refused. It was such a hassle to get food. Please do better and don't spoil Christmas for families.

My daughter and her children, along with others in their group, were shaken and traumatized by what happened at Grey Goose Lodge in Newcastle. The manager accused them of not paying the entrance fee, which was completely untrue. Then the owner confronted them aggressively and intimidatingly, and even tried to push another woman in their group. That's unacceptable behaviour from anyone, especially someone in hospitality. A place that should feel safe and welcoming for families left them feeling harassed and humiliated. I was deeply disappointed by the unethical and unprofessional conduct of both the management and owner, and can't recommend Grey Goose Lodge to anyone looking for a safe, respectful, professional experience.
