The check-in was easy, and there was lots of room to park. I was happy with the stay and would suggest this place for trips around the region, or as a stop between JHB and Durban in either direction. The misty mountain views and fresh air add to the setting, and the rooms are spacious and beautiful.

Breakfast was a highlight, especially the delicious poached apples with labneh. The staff were friendly and really helpful, and I loved the lavender shortbread in the rooms so much that I think they should sell it. The location made it easy for us to explore the area, and we had a lovely stay. The only thing that needs attention is the bathroom in Room 16.

We only tried the bar and food, and had no complaints. Two 500ml Castle Lights cost R68, and the beef pie was tasty and nicely presented for R160. Darius JVV served us and went out of his way to make it a pleasant visit.

I stopped in for a pint and a bit of nostalgia. It was lovely to see old Notties adapting to changing needs, with a lively sports centre and plenty of active youngsters. This landmark is still ticking all the boxes.

There’s more here than food. The views are breathtaking, there are animals on the farm, and their brewery’s beer brings it all together. Definitely worth trying.
