Waking up to the mountains and lake was breathtaking, and the wildlife around the water was a real surprise. From tent 7 we saw springbok, kudu and water mongoose, closer than I’d ever been to wildlife before. The lodge was beautiful and had everything we wanted, including a fully stocked kitchen, good aircon, a powerful shower and a really comfortable bed. We ordered both the Braai package and breakfast package, and I’d highly recommend them. You could tell they were put together with care. We had ostrich and chicken for the braai, both lovely, especially the ostrich steak and the chicken’s wicked rub. Breakfast was brilliant too. The staff were lovely. We’re gutted we only stayed one night.

We’ll be back, and would recommend this gorgeous spot to couples, families or friends. There are premium tents with a hot tub for two, as well as tents by the dam. Springbokkies wander around, and there’s plenty of birdlife. You can stargaze, catch the sunrise, swim in the pool or try fishing. Don’t skip the braai packs, the lamb and ostrich were delicious. The local Karusa Rouge was easy to drink and paired well. Everyone at reception was friendly and helpful.

We went on our honeymoon and loved how peaceful it was, with nice things to do nearby. The oustrich-tour was a highlight, and there were lovely hiking paths and wildlife too. Stargazing and warming up in the hot pot were great. Calling the tent glamping is an understatement. The staff were very friendly and helped us with everything. We’d absolutely recommend it.

The farm is huge, 30.000 hectares, and has 30.000 ostriches, making it the largest ostrich farm in South Africa. They hatch 1000 eggs a week. It’s very well run, and the whole place is pleasant and peaceful, with Oudtshoorn only a short drive away for shopping. JJ and Alfred were a pleasure to meet. JJ took us on a Meerkat safari and knew so much about the wildlife. The meerkats were adorable, and on the drive we saw far more game than expected, including impala, springbuck, kudu, giraffe, diker, mongoose and ostriches. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi. Such a magical place, and we were sad when our stay ended. Highly recommended.
