La Plume Boutique Hotel & Spa

The ostrich steak was the meal I can't stop thinking about. It was tender, full of flavor and perfectly cooked, the best steak I've ever had. The food at La Plume was outstanding overall. Our children tried high tea for the first time here, and now they're hooked. There was a lavish mix of sweet and savory treats with fine teas, artisan coffee and refreshing drinks, and everything tasted delicious. Our spa massages left us relaxed and refreshed too. We stayed July 28-30, 2025, and it was one of the highlights of our time in Oudtshoorn. The working ostrich farm has far reaching valley views and a lovely blend of old world charm and modern luxury. We felt pampered and welcome right from arrival. Our family of five booked two superior suites, with an extra bed in one for our third child. The room was gorgeous, spacious and thoughtfully decorated, with quality linens, stylish furnishings and room to spread out. It felt more like a private spa retreat than a hotel room. The owner led an informative, personal ostrich tour, full of fascinating stories that gave us a real sense of the farm and the care put into raising the birds. Between the comfortable accommodation, great food, farm experiences and spa, La Plume surpassed our expectations. It was an elegant, comfortable stay with real farm character, a once in a lifetime experience our family will cherish.

The evening meal was incredible, especially the ostrich steak, which was unreal. The house and rooms felt classy and luxurious, with beautiful views all around. We only stayed one night, which was a shame, because this has to be one of my favorite stays anywhere. It's just a few minutes' drive from the sunrise meerkats experience, and the 11am checkout meant we could go back to sleep for a bit. Thanks to the wonderful team for making it special. I'd recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

The table was beautifully set, and the service couldn't have been better. We had a special Sunday lunch for my mother in law's 85th birthday, and she and her friends were very impressed. The food was beautifully presented and delicious, easily 5 star. Thank you, La Plume, for making the celebration so special.

Breakfast with a view of Table Mountain on a clear day was amazing, and the hotel views are stunning. The hotel is immaculate and has spa facilities, with a good location for central cape town. There's a pool, though there's also a poll you have to climb into through the restaurant window, which is a bit strange. The food was excellent. Service was a bit haphazard: on the first day tea and juice came after the food, and on the second day toast and jam never appeared despite a couple of reminders. Still, it didn't spoil a great meal. Dinner was generous and lovely. The rooms are immaculate and the bedding very comfortable. I didn't try the spa, jacuzzi or steamroom.
