Oue Werf Country House

The visit was a real disappointment. The rooms didn't match the website or the luxury guest house offering. They need renovations: the shower floor was peeling and the door handles were loose. The outdoor entertainment area wasn't set up, with the table and chairs pushed aside and no cushions, and the swimming pool was dirty and neglected. The main area didn't feel welcoming. Dinner had been arranged and confirmed, but there was no dinner for us during our overnight stay. After a long drive, we had to get back in the car and find a restaurant elsewhere in the area. I raised my disappointment that day and again after the stay, but little was said and nobody took responsibility for the poor service. They also showed no interest in seeing the pictures I'd taken of the rooms and common areas. This is an honest account of how disappointing the stay was.

We had a lovely stay in a beautiful, peaceful valley near Oudtshoorn. The hosts were friendly and extremely helpful. I can only recommend it!

We booked at short notice and enjoyed a spacious Manor House room. It's a clean, tidy, typical Karoo house with a quiet farm feel, safe parking and all the amenities we needed. The swimming pool was crystal clear, there are many fruit trees around the house, and it's close to Oudtshoorn and the Cango Caves. It's pet friendly, but the resident dogs roam freely and caused a lot of trouble when we tried to walk our leashed dogs. My wife was injured trying to keep them apart.

The room was clean and had everything I needed, and breakfast was really good. The host and staff were friendly, and the original South African-style farm was beautifully maintained. Thank you, I'll see you again.
