Riverside Lodge

The house’s historic character gives it a special atmosphere, and everything is well maintained and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was fantastic, fresh, varied and made with so much care. We felt at home right from arrival. The two hosts clearly look after the house and its details, and were always friendly and helpful, making sure we had what we needed. We’d love to return and can wholeheartedly recommend this guesthouse.

The location is handy, just a short walk to restaurants, with attractions nearby. They share lots of tips through WhatsApp when you arrive and during your stay, and reply promptly if you have questions. At Riverside we had a lovely time. Breakfast was excellent, the self-service bar was nicely over the top, and the deck was a good spot for a drink or chat. The rooms were nice with plenty of pillows to choose from. The shower was great, though getting the temperature right was a bit tricky at first. All in all, highly recommend staying here in Oudtshoorn.

You can tell straight away that Albert & Elza want their guests to have the best time possible. They’re wonderful hosts, and the property looks lovely, full of charming little details. We only wish we could have stayed more than one night. When we’re in Oudtshoorn again, we’ll definitely stay here.

The self-catering lodge had loads of room for our family of four, or five, and a peaceful view over the river. The kitchenette had two hobs, a microwave, a good-sized fridge and plenty of crockery and cutlery. We stayed for two nights and could probably have stayed longer. We got a warm welcome, the rooms were well maintained, and the location was great, an easy walk to restaurants and cafes.
