The guesthouse is right in the town centre, with secure parking and a breakfast to take along for anyone leaving early. My room was superb and had all the amenities I needed. The Wi-Fi wasn’t working well, though the wind that evening may have been the reason. I’d recommend the place and will be back soon.

We had a lovely long weekend here. The room was really comfortable, and the owner and staff were so kind and accommodating. I’d definitely recommend staying.

The room was neat and clean when we arrived, and we left it tidy too. The bed wasn’t very comfortable. We’d been considering booking the whole place for a week because of the location and how neat the rooms were, but a call from Minette changed that. The owners didn’t welcome us themselves, sending a worker with the keys, and the same worker collected them at checkout. I asked if she wanted to inspect the room, since I’d taken photos before leaving, but she said no. Later, Minette called and wanted me to bring back her nearly empty plastic lotion bottle. We hadn’t used their shampoo or body wash, and left the full bottles because we had our own. I’d used most of the lotion because I’d forgotten to pack mine, and thought I’d take the little that remained in the almost empty container. In all my years of traveling, no one has asked me to return a practically empty bottle. By then I was halfway to Cape Town from Paarl, and we decided turning back over an empty plastic container was ridiculous. Minette sounded annoyed and irritated on the phone, and wasn’t friendly about it. The whole thing felt disrespectful and left a very bad aftertaste. I’m glad she called before we booked the place for a week as planned. I don’t know who Minette and Willie are, but I absolutely don’t recommend staying here. My family found another accommodation nearby and had a truly happy, joyous stay. There are plenty of places in Paarl where you can have a better experience. Choose positive attitudes. I can see there are some good reviews here, perhaps they choose who they meet and treat respectfully.

Breakfast was already in the fridge for the next morning, and there’s safe parking behind an electric gate. The people were wonderfully friendly too. My downstairs room was immaculately decorated and furnished, with a very comfortable bed and a great shower. A wild fire on the mountain behind made things quite smoky, otherwise I’d have sat on the inviting sofas outside. It was an absolute bargain, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
