There's a beautiful pool as a nice bonus. The host was very friendly and welcoming, which made our excellent stay near Phalaborwa Gate even better. If you're considering it, feel free to book with confidence.

Dave deserves a special mention. He was friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to help, whether with Kruger tips or just a chat. He made the stay feel personal and memorable. Sunbird Lodge was a relaxed, comfortable and welcoming place, and we felt at home from the moment we arrived. It was the perfect beginning to our first trip to South Africa and our gateway to Kruger National Park. We couldn't have asked for a better start to the adventure. Highly recommended, and we'd absolutely stay again.

Dave was a very accommodating host and helped us sort out a few last-minute travel hiccups. We stayed for two nights at the start of July to be close to Kruger Park's entrance. Breakfast was delicious, with generous portions and plenty of options. There's secure parking on site, and it's only a five-minute drive to the Phalaborwa Kruger gate. A few useful things for visitors: there is no Uber or Bolt service in the area, so plan accordingly. The closest restaurants and shopping malls are less than a 15-minute walk away. Bring mosquito repellent.

What I'll remember most is the hosts' hospitality. The owner was warm and attentive, and each day I felt like their most important guest. The accommodation was comfortable and had what I needed: a bed, desk and chair, good cupboard space, a bar fridge with fresh milk, and strong Wi-Fi. Breakfasts were really good too. I look forward to visiting again.
