Bel Air Guest House

The antique car decor gives the place a unique look. Our spacious room was clean, neat, and comfortable, with good mattresses, a bathroom with both a bath and shower, a coffee and tea station, and a small fridge. Breakfast was included and enormous. Very good value for money.

The hostess was wonderful, and the clean room and comfy bed made it feel like home away from home. It was a cold weekend, but the room had enough heat, with an electric blanket and a wall heater if needed. This is definitely my first choice in Piet Retief.

The owner called us while we were on the way, which was a really nice touch, and was very helpful. The venue is kept neat, and the rooms are clean and comfortable, just right for a halfway stop on a trip. Service was really good, and breakfast was super tasty and served nice and early. Five stars from us!

The room I was given smelled of mold, and the truck noise was ridiculous. I was also promised a garden view and patio, but got neither. Hot water took forever to come through. The reception lady gave us a pathetic welcome and was extremely rude to us people of colour, while being overly friendly to people of her own. The email promised free supper and breakfast, but I didn’t receive either and ended up paying for breakfast, which was below average. If I had another chance, I’d choose a different guest house. A total waste of money, especially if you’re dark melanin.
