A Garden Suite

Oh Lara, she’s such a lovely lady! We booked at the last minute for my partner, but she was ready to welcome us and was so warm, and funny too 🤭. It feels like a home away from home, and I’d definitely recommend it.

The service was hands-on, and the hosts showed real interest in their guests. Breakfast was superb on both days, with fresh coffee and everything cooked just right. The location worked well for what I needed, and I had a great stay that was well worth the cost. I’d highly recommend the place and will definitely return. A few additions might help: replacing the room carpet with laminate flooring could make cleaning easier and give the otherwise shabby chic room an update. Shampoo would be nice to have, and a list of restaurants, movies, and other local options with their category, distance, address, and phone number would be useful for visitors.

An awful place and a terrible experience. What upset me most was the lack of hospitality from the host Lara. During the first phone call, she said it would be a problem if we arrived after 4pm because she wouldn’t be home to let us in. Luckily, we were nearby and got there in time to collect the keys. In the early evening I tried to warm up food, and the microwave was in a terrible state. The inside was disgusting, and it had burned out before. The towels were dirty and brown-stained, too. The unit smelled stuffy when we walked in, and I thought the greenery might be affecting my allergies. Then I found mold and white spores everywhere above the place where I was supposed to sleep. The chair beside my bed smelled of urine. I had the worst night’s sleep, if I slept at all, and my sinus attack turned into full-blown flu. When I messaged Lara the next morning about the problems, she reacted with hostility. She asked why I hadn’t told her sooner and said that if we wanted to leave, she could have helped find alternative accommodation and arranged a refund. There was no ownership, accountability, or apology for the inconvenience. It’s not the guest’s job to do an entry inspection and report every fault. And what would she have done right then anyway? We’d just finished a four-hour drive after packing up a house. I had no energy to pack everything again and drive around looking for somewhere else. This shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Lara has refunded my stay, which is fine, but that snug a bug unit is a walking fire, health, and safety hazard. It’s atrocious that anyone would consider accommodation in such poor condition acceptable. I’ll report this place to the TGCSA. They shouldn’t be allowed to operate like this.

Best B&B in PMB, with awesome hospitality from the host. It’s close to the shopping centre and Grace hospital.
