At Black Wood Guest House

The room we booked was clean, but it had a horrible smell and we couldn’t work out where it was coming from. There are too many rooms, and honestly the place looks like a brothel. We cancelled our non-refundable booking and moved to a nearby hotel that was great and cost about the same. I don’t think this place should be listed on Agoda or Booking.com. It was horrible.

The staff don’t seem trained to deal with people, and the place was horrible. No towels were provided, and the air-conditioners seem to be there just for show, a scam. The showers usually had no hot water and splashed water everywhere. You have to protest just to get toilet paper, and the beds will leave you with back pain. Don’t waste your money on blackwood. Find somewhere else to stay.

They made sure I had a great stay, and the hospitality was first-rate. I was given the best suite in the house for a regular fee. I only stayed overnight, which was a shame, but I’ll come back for a longer visit.

The aircon didn't work, and there was a smell of smoke even though no-smoking signs were everywhere. Customer service was no help, and they wouldn't refund me. I can't see where the three stars come from. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else.
