Willows Boutique Hotel & Conference Centre

A peaceful, relaxing place, tucked among quiet gardens. It’s near Lynwood road and within walking distance of Wilgers Hospital, The Grove shopping centre, restaurants and other shops.

The room and bathroom were clean, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to light sleepers. A generator kept switching on and off through the night, apparently as part of the usual routine, not just during load shedding or power cuts. Breakfast was average. I’d been told it started at 7, and mentioned that some mornings I’d need to leave earlier and miss it. One morning, when I was heading out at 6:30, I saw a large group already eating in the dining hall. It would’ve been helpful to know breakfast was being served early.

The food was delicious, and the kitchen staff were friendly and helpful. The garden staff keep the place clean, but the hotel could invest more in the landscaping for guests to enjoy, and the outside of the buildings needs better upkeep.

The friendly staff and great food were the only things we liked. We won’t be back. Finding reception was difficult because the sign was hidden, and the room was a complete let-down. The sheets were torn, the balcony door needs replacing and had been boarded up, and the bathroom sink tap was loose. Bushes and shrubs left unmaintained spoiled the view. There were chickens on the property for some reason, crowing from 3:30am. The website doesn’t mention that the power is turned off from 23:00-5:30 because they’re solar only. Room service is advertised, but there’s no phone in the room. There was no hairdryer or safe, and no aircon. I had to boil the kettle on the floor because the plug wouldn’t reach. The TV works, but you have to sign in with your own DSTV and YouTube accounts, which isn’t okay.
