Formosa Bay

Breakfast was amazing, and definitely try the waffle. Service was great too. The rooms are spacious, each with a fold-out extra bed in the sofa, a well-equipped kitchen and an outdoor barbecue. There’s plenty of parking, a kids’ play area, table tennis, an indoor pool table and lots of other activities for adults. One of the pools is heated, which is a nice bonus. The hotel is right by the highway and in town, with plenty of nearby restaurants and pubs within 2 km.

We had a really enjoyable stay. The rooms were comfortable and the units very well equipped, and the resort was well maintained. Getting our luggage from the parking area to the unit took a bit of effort. There’s no aircon. It’s next to a small industrial area, but we didn’t hear noise at night. Reception was a little slow when we checked in.

The units closest to the road get a lot of noise. Elsewhere, we had a great week and a half: the accommodation was clean and serviced daily, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the pool was nice. We also had lots of fun with activities like putt putt.

The venue felt like good value for money, despite a few things that could be better. The pool was cloudy and murky, quite unlike the sparkling pictures on the website. The gym had reasonable equipment, but only one room or unit could use it at a time. You couldn’t book ahead, just take your chances on a first come, first served basis. They said private use was needed in case someone wanted the sauna, but CCTV and big glass doors and windows made the gym feel completely exposed. With 50 rooms and just 8 hours of access per day, don’t count on getting into the gym whenever you want. Reception and restaurant service was mediocre. The restaurant food was cooked well, and the cleaning staff did a good job servicing the rooms. The resort itself was generally well maintained.
