The staff were warm and attentive throughout, and seemed genuinely happy at work. We enjoyed dinner at each of the three restaurants. The menus were quite similar, but each place had its own atmosphere, so the evenings felt different. Breakfast had both a buffet and à la carte options. When we arrived, the hotel was full and we weren’t keen on our original room, which had been the only option when we booked. I asked about paid upgrades for later nights, and the front desk manager kindly showed us alternatives. We moved from an Orchard Suite to a larger Garden Suite with a lovely outdoor area, and were pleasantly surprised that the upgrade was complimentary. One small thing to fix: the pool sunlounger covers slide down as soon as you sit, even with their Velcro straps. The property is serene and well placed for exploring Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated and sits in a magnificent garden where deer roam freely. The restaurant food was wonderful.

The staff were excellent, though it took ten minutes to get the credit card machine working at checkout, which wasn’t great. I also missed having a central bar for drinks before or after dinner. For the price, the room fell short of expectations: there was just one chair, no map of the complex, and a hard-to-see step down into the room that felt dangerous when coming back in the dark.

We liked it so much that we extended our stay. The rooms were fantastic, the staff gave great service, and the location was great too. Around the corner, just a short walk away, is one of the best restaurants we’ve ever eaten at. This is a real hidden gem and one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed in. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in South Africa.

The restaurants were so good that, if the resort were in the UK, they’d be Michelin star level. The room was exquisite, with an open fire and a beautiful thatched roof, and we could see deer grazing in the garden. The staff were wonderfully attentive. My wife and I are fortunate to travel on great holidays, and this is one of the best resorts we’ve visited.
