The Old Rectory

The food was incredible, especially the butternut ravioli, which was out of this world. The cape malay was tender and full of amazing flavor, the best curry I’ve ever had. The staff were warm and attentive too. It’s set in one of Plett’s oldest and most beautiful buildings.

Dinner was delicious, with every dish full of flavor and satisfying. Dessert was the standout, a deconstructed apple crumble that looked amazing and tasted even better. Our servers were attentive without hovering, and their service made the evening even better. We sat outside by the pool, surrounded by lush trees and hotel rooms, with a view that made it feel like a meal in a friend’s lovely garden. The calm setting and soft music made it intimate and relaxing. From the moment we entered The Old Rectory in Plettenberg Bay, the staff’s warmth made us feel welcome, and the whole place felt like home. A wonderful spot for a birthday or other special occasion.

We spent four nights here and had an outstanding stay. The beach is only about a 50m walk away, which was more convenient than other options like the Plettenberg. The staff were unbelievably friendly, and the rooms were immaculate and functional. The cooling deserves a special mention, and the warm breakfast dishes were especially good. Just two small gripes: cooking could be slow when the restaurant got busy, and the chips tasted off during our stay, maybe because of old cooking oil. We mentioned it, and I’m sure it’ll be sorted. We’ll be back.
