54 Brecher

The staff were so welcoming, and they even helped carry my bags. My room was clean and well kept. I’d booked for a day visit and enjoyed being there, though the staff seemed busy outside and the noise disturbed the sleep I really needed. I still loved my stay and would come again.

I paid for two nights and ended up staying only one. Someone, either staff or another guest, was loud all night until 4:30 in the morning. There were no cups, coffee, kettle, or TV, and the phone didn’t work when I wanted to complain. A terrible place to stay.

The rooms and the property look lovely, but the bedding made us itchy. At checkout we were charged R100 for a stain on the sheet. They said they needed to buy detergent right away to wash it, but wouldn’t a B&B have detergent? Why should we pay just because something was accidentally dropped on the sheet? We’d booked two rooms and neither had a TV. When we raised it, they said we should have told them so they could get one for us. They knew we were coming, so why did we have to remind them about a TV?

The room we’d booked wasn’t available when we arrived, so they put us in the attic and charged extra. It was extremely hot, the bed was sunken, the bathroom wasn’t clean, and the bin hadn’t been emptied. The windows were also too far out of reach to open. I’d stayed in a much better room they offered before, so I never expected to get such an unpleasant one for the amount I paid.
