The rooms are carefully themed to create a particular experience, and they’re in mint condition. The host clearly cares about making guests feel welcome, which made the stay such a pleasure. It’s peaceful and great value, close to amenities while away from the city bustle. Highly recommend.

The tea garden is so peaceful, and the whole place is beautiful. The owners were welcoming, friendly, and hospitable, and my stay was pleasant, relaxing, and quiet. It feels like home away from home. I’d recommend taking some time away here, and I’ll be back soon.

The location works well for my business needs, and even when my booking arrangements weren’t made in time, the bookings were handled well. I’ve known A Knightsrest Guest House for more than fifteen years and have stayed there often, including for weekend getaways. Carol Smith and her team have hosted two especially memorable events for me: my wedding ceremony and reception in 2004, and my fiftieth birthday in 2011. More than 100 guests came from across the country for those occasions, and both left a lasting impression. I’ve also attended many themed family and other functions there over the years, and they’ve all been wonderful experiences. Carol Smith is a gracious, service-minded hostess who loves working with people. She’s easy to reach, attentive, and good at anticipating what guests need. The guest house sits in Pretoria North, near the Magaliesberg Mountain Range. It’s fairly private, but also works as a venue for small corporate or private year-end functions, weddings, birthdays, meetings, networking, and other gatherings. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean, with non-smoking options inside and outside. They have one or two queen-sized beds, an en-suite shower and bathroom, a bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities, and DSTV. The outside rooms also have small patios where guests can relax in the fresh morning or evening air, listen to birds, read, or smoke. The two-storey house has access ramps and accessible ground-floor rooms, and is generally disability-friendly. The enclosed grounds have an intercom and automated gate, plus ample guest parking. Beside the house there’s a large lapa with a bar for events, meetings, small conferences, and planning sessions, with meal facilities. A pergola overlooks the pool and offers a place to relax in sun or shade. I have no hesitation recommending A Knightsrest Guest House as my preferred venue in Pretoria.
