ANEW Hotel Hatfield Pretoria

Good buffet breakfast, friendly staff, and a handy location with other places to eat nearby. Nice hotel, no complaints. I'll come back.

The rooms were tidy, with a mini fridge and decent Wi-Fi. The shower was roomy, though the water pressure wasn't great. Breakfast was on par, and the chef was friendly. The food side was a mess. Most things on their own menu seemed unavailable. They didn't have the pepperoni pizza, the bacon supreme, the dessert I asked for, or the hand-cut chips listed on the menu. I ended up with what seemed like the usual precut chips. I ordered the rib and steak combo, asked for medium rare, and got well done. I sent it back, and could only eat two of the four ribs. It was disgusting, especially at R 300. For that money I'd expect world-class food, and I wouldn't have paid R100 for it if it were up to me. I would've asked for my money back. The menu calls dishes succulent, but that didn't match what I got. I gave them another chance and ordered a "Smokey bacon supreme." It was a store-bought margarita pizza with bacon thrown on top, then dried out when reheated. Also disgusting. I told the manager the next morning, and he was extremely apologetic. It wasn't his fault. This hotel claims to be 4 star, so management needs to step up.

The place looked beautiful, but dinner with my daughter on our last evening in Pretoria was a letdown. They had no fish or ice, so I couldn't get a virgin strawberry daiquiri. We waited a long time for food, and it didn't taste very good. We skipped dessert to avoid another disappointment. I wish I'd listened to my friend who'd warned me. We left with a bad taste in our mouths.

The staff were friendly and the rooms clean, but the room was poorly equipped. There was no coffee, milk, or even a teaspoon by the coffee machine. The one in the foyer was taken away early in the evening. The shower leaked all over and needs a door. The aircon was very old and struggled to cool the room.
