Hazelwood’s popular restaurants are all within walking distance, and the area has a great buzz on Saturday nights. There are lots of people out and about, and it generally feels safe to walk around. The lodge is in a prime spot, though the rooms looked much better online. In person they’re a little outdated and could use a small revamp, even though they’re generally neat and clean. The pool was clean too, but its surrounding area and chairs need updating.

It’s hard to believe how quiet and peaceful this lodge is, given that it’s surrounded by bars and restaurants in a busy neighbourhood. You can enjoy a night out painting the town red, then walk back for an excellent, quiet sleep.

We’ve stayed here twice now, and the location keeps bringing us back. It’s close to Loftus and an easy walk to all the restaurants, with plenty of parking too. The rooms are lovely, with crisp bedding and morning service, and breakfast is clearly made with care and cooked to order. We’ll be back.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and the area felt fine for walking around at night. The lodge also has private parking. Our spacious room had a fridge and tea and coffee facilities, while the large bathroom had both a bathtub and a separate shower. Breakfast cost R100 and included bread, mini croissants, muffins, eggs made how you like, juice, and more. The rooms look more dated in person than they do in the pictures, and could use a refresh.
