Henry George Guesthouse

The place itself was okay, but the service didn't make us feel welcome. Staff weren't openly rude, but they didn't smile and mostly gave short answers. Maybe they were having a bad day or we did something to offend them, but we kept our interactions brief and still felt like they didn't want us there or hope we'd return. Some lights in our room weren't working. A staff member came to check one of the switches, then asked to charge her phone in our room, which didn't feel right. I think friendly basics like engaging with guests, smiling, showing them to the room, or asking them to visit again can make a stay feel memorable. The location doesn't have to be the best if the staff are warm. Henry George was okay, but it wasn't great, and compared to other places the customer service wasn't the best. Maybe they only had an issue with us.

A total disaster and a waste of money. Never again, and I wouldn't recommend staying there. There was nowhere to park when we arrived because people who weren't staying there had filled the area while using the pool. The room we booked wasn't available when we checked in, so we had to take a different one because they were apparently full. There had been break-ins to vehicles on the premises the previous night, so I moved my valuables from the car into my room. We were promised two security guards overnight, but only one man sat in his hut at the front of the yard. The bathroom lights didn't work. Reception persuaded me to leave my room keys when I went to Loftus. When I came back, my valuables were gone, and nobody seemed to know anything. In the morning, a gray Mercedes was parked right behind my car. Reception said it belonged to her boss and told me to move it myself because he didn't want to be disturbed. That says a lot about how guest oriented they are. NEVER EVER AGAIN.

The room was spotless, and the staff were really friendly. Excellent stay.

My stay at Henry Gorge Guesthouse was disappointing. The room had bedbugs and cockroaches, which made it hard to relax and raised serious cleanliness concerns. The shower head was broken, and there was no remote for the air conditioning, so I couldn't get comfortable. I wouldn't recommend the guesthouse unless these hygiene and maintenance issues are addressed.
