Red Apple Guest House

We enjoyed our time at the Red Apple, and the employees were helpful whenever we needed them. A couple of things let the place down: the TV in the other room couldn’t pick up channels, the pool couldn’t be used, and the braai stand needs regular cleaning.

We’d booked a room but weren’t given the one assigned to us. The night shift worker on 02-08-25 gave poor service and, at 23:00, told us to email bookings.com about getting a refund. I don’t think reception work should depend on someone’s nationality, and I doubt a foreign national would be able to get a visa to work as a receptionist.

There were ants on the table, the couch was dirty, and the sheets and bedding weren’t clean. Hot water ran out quickly, and there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms farther back. The air conditioners didn’t work, and they had no heater to make up for that. They also don’t serve breakfast, and there were no towels, glasses, or tea for guests who don’t drink coffee. Getting a car through the narrow space to the parking area was difficult. The guesthouse isn’t bad overall, but the service, etiquette, and hospitality need improvement.

My room was cold because the air conditioning didn’t work, and they had no extra heater to offer. It also had no Wi-Fi coverage. The room wasn’t clean, and neither were the sheets as they should’ve been. There were no towels in the bathroom, and room service wasn’t available. The service wasn’t very good.
