Zwavelpoort Guesthouse

A really beautiful guest house, surrounded by nature and bush views, with everything you need for an overnight stay. The bonfire pit is perfect for a cold night. I told the owner there weren't enough directions to the room or reception, and they appreciated the feedback and said it would get urgent attention. Thank you, Madeleine, for being so professional.

It's a very nice place, but I was really upset when I got back from a wedding at 23h45. While I was brushing my teeth, I heard something at the front door. I came around the corner and found one of the domestic workers inside the house. She said she needed a mattress from the storeroom there. We had booked the guesthouse for the night, so a worker unlocking the door and walking in at 23h45 as if no one was home felt extreme and very upsetting. Needless to say, I barely slept.

This was a horrible stay. We booked and paid for 7 guests for 2 nights, but there were beds for only 4. The other 3 guests had to sleep on mattresses on the floor. We're still waiting for the owner to contact us.

The views are spectacular, and the owners and staff went out of their way to make us feel like royalty. It's worth a visit for a weekend away or a short break from the city buzz.
