Waterhouse Guest Lodge in Muckleneuk

While my wife was in hospital across the street, we stayed at the guest house. The people there did everything they could to make us comfortable. Thank you.

The remote they gave us wouldn’t open the gate, and we had to use the car to get out. After walking across to the hospital, we couldn’t get back in. At 6:30 pm, in the dark, we were left standing in the street. The aircon also wasn’t working, and after I reported it, someone had to activate it elsewhere. I wouldn’t advise anyone to stay here. Management then called and said, “You have no right to be upset, I will speak to the owner to refund your money and you need to leave.” Absolutely shocking. We were staying here because I had to check into hospital the next day for a major operation, and this is how we were treated. We’re the customers, yet I was told I had no right to be upset. Those were the exact words. If you stay here despite this advice, don’t complain about anything, or you may be called rude and evicted. Stay far, far away.

The rooms are big and airy, and the place is central and very clean. The staff are lovely, and the security staff were awake and friendly. I love this guesthouse.

The room was just right for what I paid, with a great, comfortable bed, and I felt safe the whole time. Breakfast was good value too, and everything was so convenient. The staff were wonderful from the easy check-in, and they even let me arrive early. Thanks, Judith. I’ll be back. Thanks, Dave.
