Casa Milorca

The splash pool was a welcome break from the heat, and the cottage was comfortable and well equipped. Casa Milorca is a delightful find in Prince Albert, perfectly placed just off the main street. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you, Salvelio and Louise!

After a couple of days in Calitzdorp and an exhilarating drive over the Swartberg Pass, we returned to Casa Milorca with two other couples, old friends of a few decades. One couple had come from Dar-es-Salaam and the other from Port Elizabeth. This little hideaway in Prince Albert was just right for ending a memorable road trip before heading home. We only managed a few local stops, but both couples said they’d come back for a longer stay. I’d suggest spending more than one night, since there are plenty of gems to explore in this Karoo Oasis. Restaurants such as The Rude Chef, art galleries, Gay's Guernsey Dairy, wine tasting at Fernskloof, lots of breakfast spots, and O for Olives, where we chose to drive out for breakfast, are all close enough to the Main Road. The town also has a Theatre and many private Artists with open galleries.

We spent the long weekend in the beautiful little town of Prins Albert, and staying at Casa Milorca made the trip even more memorable. The home’s history has been kept intact through its renovation, and there’s plenty of reading material about the history of Prins Albert. The rooms are comfortable, clean, tidy and well maintained. It’s in a quiet, safe and peaceful area, with secure off-road parking, wifi, a pool and braai area. Whether you’re passing through or looking for a slower-paced getaway, a stay here makes Prins Albert a worthwhile experience. It was good value for money, and I’ll certainly be back.
