Inn & Out Plus Craighall

The staff were polite and the service was better than the rooms. The rooms felt dated, unpleasant and lacking any warmth or character. I wouldn't recommend staying here, and I wouldn't return.

Breakfast was good, and the waiters and chef were very nice. We also felt secure: there was round-the-clock security, and the surrounding neighbourhood was enclosed. The room, though, had a lot of basic problems. The floors were dirty and ants came out of small gaps. The bedroom lamps didn't work, the blinds were broken, the door was damaged and the aircon was busted. The kettle handle had come off, leaving electrical wires exposed. We were also missing the TV remote, and there weren't enough towels or toilet paper. These are things that could be fixed.

There aren't any shops close by, since the hotel is tucked away in a secluded area. It seems it may have been great in the past, but poor systems and upkeep have left it deteriorating. Some handles are loose, drawers are coming apart, and my remote was missing a battery. I also heard there was an honesty bar, but there wasn't one. I'd stay again if my company booked it. At least I know what to expect. The owner should improve basic maintenance and hygiene, which would make guests' stays much better.

The staff were pleasant, but the overall service needs improvement. Dusty cupboards, dirty curtains, and no spare towels or toilet paper left the hotel below what I'd expect from a 3.7-star rating.
