Alta is such a warm host and a wonderful cook. She took great care of us, and the breakfasts were delicious and varied every time. I enjoyed our conversations too. The garden and its seating area are beautiful, and each well-appointed room has a small patio where you can sit in the sunshine. My stay at the Panhandle Place and Guest House was quiet, restful and very comfortable. I can highly recommend it.
Alta is friendly, helpful and professional, and getting in is easy. There's no dogs or cats to complicate things. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the garden is gorgeous, full of roses at this time of year. I always stay here when I'm in jhb.
We were leaving S. Africa after 14 years living there and needed a temporary base to get things done and tie up loose ends. Alta made us feel welcome in homely surroundings. We could relax in our rooms and also use the summerhouse, surrounded by beautiful plants, many in full bloom.
I booked for a week at Panhandle Place and wound up staying 7 months. It's clean, friendly and in a superb location, and it really felt like home. The magnificent rose garden looks out over the suburb. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful place in Johannesburg.
We come back to Panhandle at least twice a year and have done so for over 12 years. Our family in Johburg don't have room for my husband and me, and this place is ideal, close to them and handy for getting around Johburg. We've tried all the available accommodation. The cottages are secure, comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The garden is lovely in every season, and above all, Alta is a charming host. Thank you!
