Imvubu Lodge

After two wonderful nights and three days in St Lucia, the exhausting drive from Hluhluwe brought us to this resort because the location looked beautiful. Instead, the room was a really disappointing experience. The bathroom was almost bare, with a big crack in the wash basin. The living room had hardly anything in it, one window only had a flimsy net, and the television looked new but had no connection. The Wi-Fi password we were given didn’t work, there were only two patio chairs, and there were no bedside tables. It felt like a room still under construction. We paid full price. Reception said to call if we needed help, but I tried five times at 8.40pm and got no answer. I felt badly misled by the reception service. The bright spot was the Sundowner, where we had excellent meals and great service.

It was a great night, and I’d go again. The band put on a really good performance. The seating setup was a bit confusing, though, with unclear allocations and not much difference between the categories. Renumbering the seats could help.

The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Our room was spacious and clean, and the forest setting felt natural. The one disappointment was breakfast, both the service and the menu have changed.

The chalet was clean, which is why I’m giving it two stars, but there was hardly any cutlery or furniture. For 900, we had no proper chairs in the cabin and no bedside tables. My husband phoned beforehand, but when we arrived, they suddenly said they weren’t aware of him. Nobody had told us the Wi-Fi was out of order either. What we got wasn’t worth 900 at all. We definitely won’t return.
