The on-site spa caught my eye while I was looking for somewhere near Walter Sisulu Gardens and Ramsig. From the moment I confirmed my arrival, I had a feeling this would be a special stay. I was in the Rondaval, Room 109, and loved waking up to the manicured gardens, having an early swim, and making use of the restaurant and other facilities. The grounds are immaculate, and the accommodation feels warm and elegant without being stuffy. I barely wanted to leave. I’d take a book and spend the day by the pool, just relaxing. It’s a lovely break from the city, while still being close to key attractions, whether you’re there for a weekend or a few extra days. I also met Ota and her partner in the restaurant. They’re part owners and told me how they acquired and thoughtfully revamped the property, adding personal design touches. That care comes through: the place feels intimate and homely, not just somewhere to sleep. The restaurant’s library-style interior is beautifully done, and it’s a peaceful spot for a glass of wine in the evening. The food was outstanding and memorable too. It’s hard to put the beauty of the property into words. I’d come back without hesitation.

We spent three nights at Black Eagle Hotel, and the place was beautiful, with trees and plants everywhere and peacocks wandering around. The staff made us feel welcome, and the service was great. The whole property was spotless, from reception and the dining area to our rooms, so a big thank you to the cleaning staff. Breakfast was delicious, and each morning we were greeted with smiles and good service. We’ll definitely visit again and recommend the hotel.

I booked on the facility's website on the 25th of December. The booking went through around 21:00 and the money came out of my account right away. But when we arrived, we were told they don't accept bookings after 18:00. No one could explain why the option was still available or why I was charged. I asked for a refund on the 26th and the person who helped me was friendly and helpful. Still, it’s now the 17th of January and I haven’t received the money. I keep getting the runaround without a clear answer. I’m leaving this review as a last resort because I don’t know what’s holding it up.

I had a 90-minute Swedish massage with Sandisiwe Nxumalo, and she did a great job. I felt relaxed throughout the treatment. Afterwards I had lunch and dessert at the restaurant, both delicious. The prices are very affordable. I’d recommend the place and will definitely return.

The towels at the spa were sticky and really disgusting, so I wasn’t comfortable using them or having them over me. The therapist needs training too. It felt like a home-trained treatment. We stopped halfway through and asked for a refund. I’d strongly recommend avoiding this spa.
