ANEW Resort Hunters Rest Rustenburg Resort

The friendly staff made the stay especially pleasant, from the front desk to the bartenders and cleaning crew. We spent three nights here with my group, and it was one of the best parts of our South Africa trip. There’s lots of wildlife around, and the place feels like a relaxing oasis. I enjoyed the food, pool and bar, and even treated myself to a pedicure. We all really enjoyed our time in Rustenburg.

Even though it’s far from amenities, I really loved the place. The rooms are modern, and the food and service were all top notch. I didn’t get to use any of the amenities because we were short on time, but I’d love to visit their other establishments too. One thing that would help is having adaptors at reception for travelers from outside South Africa who don’t have universal adaptors.

We hosted a two-night company conference for 63 staff at ANEW Resort Hunters Rest at the end of January, and the experience was deeply disappointing. We would not return, and other companies should think carefully before booking an event here. The food was the biggest problem. Raw chicken was served at lunch and dinner on both days, and many people refused to eat after that. At several meals, staff felt feta cheese and custard were the only safe options. Some left at night to buy food from McDonald’s in Rustenburg because what was served was undercooked, overcooked or inedible. The desserts were dry and poor quality. Service also fell short. Staff often seemed indifferent to requests, basic courtesy and professionalism were lacking, and managers from our team weren’t acknowledged. Bar service was chaotic too. Orders were written on a piece of paper, and our staff were turned away because the bar serving us supposedly had no stock, even when the same drinks were available at the main bar. That caused needless delays and frustration throughout the event. For a resort promoted as a conference and hospitality destination, the food safety, service and event management were unacceptable.

The place itself is nice, but my visit in Dec 2025 was a really bad experience. We waited about five minutes just to get help while waiters chatted at the bars and could see us. When we wanted to order, we often had to wait a long time because nobody was around. The glasses for our drinks arrived wet and dripping, without napkins. Service that day was 1/10.
