ANEW Hotel & Convention Centre OR Tambo Hotel

I went to pick up my clients from ANEW OR TAMBO yesterday, after dropping them there the day before for an overnight stay. They really enjoyed the service and the quality of the breakfast. They then flew to Mauritius after I dropped them at the Airport. It’s a top-notch hotel that meets international standards.

The hot food at breakfast was ice cold the next morning, and the dinner buffet was expensive for what you got. We went to an à la carte restaurant instead, and I regretted not choosing somewhere else for dinner. The kitchen staff shouted orders so loudly that guests could hear them over the soft music. Couples at the spa seemed to be having the same experience with the shouting and below-average food, and looked disappointed too. Our room floor was sticky and dirty, and the linen and towels smelled like mothballs. Room 205 is between reception and the dining room, so there was a lot of noise late at night and the sound of glasses and plates breaking early in the morning. I barely slept. I’ll never recommend this place or stay here again, and won’t visit another Anew hotel.

This is my second month booked at this hotel, and I still feel the same. The rooms and ambiance are top notch, and the cleaning staff are always friendly and professional. I wish reception and the waitresses had the same manners. Most of the time, staff in the dining area act like they don’t want to be there. Their attitude is rude, unprofessional and unacceptable. The food is either burnt, or the fruit salad and garden salad are off. The buffet menu is horrible, and the chicken feet I found were insulting. It seems to me they’re not taking the business seriously. Lastly, the shuttle driver Bonga has a near miss every day, sometimes twice in one trip. I believe you can do better.

The hotel is lovely apart from the dull breakfast. The food wasn’t great, and the way it was laid out wasn’t good either. The lakeside setting is beautiful and peaceful.
