What finally made me write this review was the care the hosts put into everything. They were so generous and gracious with our group of four, two couples, all mostly over 60 and traveling on two motorbikes. I did want to keep the place to myself, but they deserve the praise, and I can’t wait to come back for longer. The veranda was huge, with a beautiful view of Bridal Veil Falls. Flowers on the balcony and all around the property made it even lovelier. Breakfast was a real treat, with little touches from things they’d bought and brought from overseas. Our rooms were spacious, spotless, sweet smelling, and everything worked. They were luxuriously furnished, with an honesty bar fridge, kettle, tea and coffee, and large bathrooms. The queen beds, pillows, and quality linen were wonderful. I have constant back pain, but the good mattress meant I woke without it after the best sleep I can remember. I’ve stayed in places in South Africa and overseas, and this is among the best. They seem to have spared no effort to make it special.

The rooms at Hillwatering Guest House were spotless and really roomy, and our hosts checked that we were happy with everything. We had a wonderful weekend at this little gem in Sabie. We’d happily recommend it.

Ane & Riana welcomed us so warmly and personally to their country house, and their local tips were helpful for planning what to see. The setting is lovely, with mountain views and a lush garden. Rooms are clean and spacious, with comfortable beds. It’s also well placed for the Panorama route, with falls and other highlights from 10 minutes to an hour away, and Kruger National Park is a 1hour drive. Thanks, Ane & Riana, for a very nice stay!
