Burchells Bush Lodge

We stayed through our timeshare and arrived at 6.45pm, but the path lights weren’t on. The stove had run out of gas. Luckily we have a gas stove at home and knew how to sort it out. After a couple of rainy days, the kitchen developed a leak, and the shower was only a trickle. The cleaning staff were great.

A great self catering place, with air conditioning throughout and a communal swimming pool.

The rooms are good, and the staff have been friendly so far. The cleanup service has been great too. It’s close to Kruger National Park, but far from basics like grocery stores. There aren’t many activities here beyond game drives and archery, and other activities are outside the property and far away. There’s also a hotel here with more options, including buffet meals, a bonfire, a souvenir shop, bars and a restaurant. You can walk over, just be cautious.

We got lucky and spotted a bush baby outside our chalet, which was a treat. The chalets are clean, with good facilities, and the staff are friendly. It’s right outside Kruger Park, so the location is good, and it works well for families or friends travelling together. The chalets are very close to each other, though, so there’s little privacy if that matters to you.
