AmaZulu Lodge

With most amenities within walking distance, it’s well placed for experiencing St Lucia. The security and ambiance are great too, making it a lovely holiday destination. I’m happy to update my review: there’s a new General Manager, and the front office now seems professional and friendly.

The rooms were immaculate, and the pool area was very clean and well maintained, thanks to the dedicated maintenance staff. Michelle was a star hostess, welcoming us and taking care of all our requests. We were celebrating a birthday, and she made the stay really enjoyable and set a great tone for the festivities. I had a thoroughly good time and would like to visit again.

There’s secure parking behind the lodge, and the location is very central. Breakfast is served in a big tent. I did feel the hosts could have been warmer, though. I’ve stayed at other places in St Lucia that I’d prefer, but that’s just my personal taste.

Breakfast service was slow, though the staff were friendly. The bathroom floors were sticky, and there was no staff around after 16h00. On our second day we asked for fresh water bottles and were told we only get them on day one and would have to buy our own, even though the rate stayed the same. When we arrived, it was clear the monkeys had been in our room before us. I used to love this place, and this was going to be my fifth visit, but sadly it’ll be our last. Time to find somewhere new.
