Alicats Place Lodge

Booking the whole place for my birthday turned into a horrific experience. Other people were apparently using the conference room that day, and the lodge got crowded. They came into the section I'd booked and helped themselves to our food and drinks. When I raised it with the owner, he was extremely rude and said I should have booked the conference room too, and there was nothing he could do. People could come into the lodge whenever they wanted, and I wasn't given keys to all the rooms. They don't wash the bedding 🤮. At checkout, a cleaner changed only the pillow slips and said it was because we were clean ladies and the bedding was still fresh. How disgusting?! 😳 I wouldn't go back there. It was awful. Don't bother.

The place is lovely, clean, and tidy. It could be even better with some improvements: they need a proper chef for the catering, and better follow-up and communication throughout the booking process.

We held an event here and stayed overnight, and I really enjoyed it. The rooms are attractive and spacious, and the staff were wonderful and ready to help. I’d happily recommend the venue for both events and accommodation.

The photos online matched what we found when we arrived, which isn’t always the case elsewhere. Everything was very clean and well cared for, with great amenities and staff who were happy to help.
