Masingita Towers

My friend and her partner checked in last night, then went out from their ground-floor room. When they came back, their laptop, cellphone, PlayStation, clothes, and her partner's passport were gone. She was robbed of her belongings inside her hotel room. How does someone get broken into in a bloody hotel? I'm sure it was one of the staff members, but how would they know that specific room was booked and the guests had gone out? This hotel must be held liable. I would never recommend it. You are not safe here.

The Towers has a great location, and the penthouse views are... well. It gets a bit rowdy after certain hours, and it's not the Saxon, boo. Shout out to Boitumelo, Sonia and Jael for being patient, trusting, and hospitable. Keep that energy, hunnies. Wishing the bigger Masingita team luck. It's still a work in progress. #Composure

No aircon, and no fans in the rooms either. For this money, there are better options for value and service in JHB. I arrived at 1pm and paid R500 for early booking at 2pm. I got there at 1:45pm, but the room wasn't ready, so I had to wait until 2pm. Why offer the R500 option for 1pm if the room still isn't ready at 1:45? Silence. It's a straight out lie. When I asked for a refund, they told me to contact Bookings.com, saying only they could refund me. I'd paid them over R25000 in full, and they said they didn't know. Silence again. I won't book there.

The location is excellent, the room was beautifully designed, and the woman who helped us check in, along with the staff who serviced the unit, were friendly and helpful. But the premises were dirty and had questionable characters around. Check-in took over an hour because the room was still being prepared. For an eight-sleeper unit, we got just one access key, which was especially impractical since you need a card to select a floor in the lifts. We chose Masingita Towers for its location, attractive rooms, and proximity to amenities, with an event coming up in Sandton. At check-in we had to sign rules saying no parties or decorations. I explained that we had an event and needed to get ready in our rooms, which is normal for hotel or serviced accommodation. The property seems very unprofessionally managed. A woman whose name I unfortunately didn't get stormed into the penthouse we'd booked and went into every bedroom without permission. We were getting ready, and she said it broke the rules but couldn't show or point to any such rule. It was a serious invasion of privacy and made us feel unsafe and disrespected. The incident caused needless stress and turned into a very uncomfortable confrontation in our unit. In all my years of travelling, I haven't experienced this kind of aggressive, intrusive behaviour from a host. I won't return for any reason.
