Mint Hotel Sandhurst

We came from Botswana as a family and were very happy with our stay. The neighborhood is beautiful, with a view of M81, and the rooms had what we wanted, from comfortable beds to clean bathrooms with good shower pressure. Checking out was hard 😩. I’ll be a regular here, and I’d recommend this accommodation to couples, solo travelers, and families 🥰

The problems started after a very welcoming lady with great service handed over her shift. At night, the front staff were loud and seemed drunk. The receptionist, a guy wearing floppy shoes, was on a loudspeaker call with a friend while we struggled with the vending machine. Around 22h00 he had visitors during working hours, and the security guards were sitting on the reception couches drinking alcohol from flasks. The vending machine wasn’t working and nobody could help us. The room plugs wouldn’t charge our phones, and the bedside lamps had no bulbs. I’ve never had an experience like that in all my travels, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

It’s a great property, but it needs better upkeep. Housekeeping should pay more attention to when guests are out and whether they want the room cleaned or their towels changed.

After booking my room weeks ahead, I still spent nine hours sitting in reception before I was given a room. Staff offered no reassurance or updates about when one might be ready, and there didn’t seem to be any urgency. I’d notified the hotel well in advance through Booking.com that I’d be arriving early. When I got there, the receptionist said early check-in would cost extra, something nobody had mentioned beforehand. Their email had said to let them know about an early arrival so they could try to arrange it. The lack of clear information and poor service made the whole check-in extremely frustrating. Based on that experience, I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.
