NH Johannesburg Sandton Hotel

The area wasn’t my favorite, but the staff made this stay. Boitumelo at reception was especially helpful, and I really enjoyed talking with her. The conference went very well, with the staff helping things run smoothly. Breakfast had plenty of variety, including chia seeds, squeezed juices, salsa, fruit, and vegetables. I don’t usually go for big international chain hotels, but the people here were so friendly, from reception to the restaurant and cleaning team. Thanks to all of them.

Tessa at the front desk deserves a special mention. She sorted out a late checkout and car parking, and went above and beyond. I rarely write reviews, but wanted to thank her for such great service. The hotel itself is good too. It’s a bit dated, but clean, with excellent facilities, a lovely pool, and exceptionally friendly staff. I’d recommend it. Many thanks.

The gym could use more benches and some newer equipment, but the rest of the facilities were excellent. The food was great, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also got a suite upgrade, which was a nice surprise. One of the best hotel stays I’ve had in a while.

The staff were exceptionally friendly, and the hotel seems trusted by many airlines that stay there and rely on its schedules. We paid for an executive lounge on the sixth floor, expecting afternoon tea, canapés, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages. We weren’t told during booking or at reception that the lounge would be closed for maintenance. At check-in, the receptionist briefly described the included amenities but didn’t mention the closure. When we arrived, the door was locked and there was no staff in the lounge. Someone told us the hotel had reserved part of the restaurant for food and drinks instead. That was a compromise, but it wasn’t the lounge experience or ambience we’d expected, and it was disappointing. We received an apology, but no price reduction, and were charged the full amount. If we’d known the lounge was closed, we would have booked another room. The hotel should have clearly told us, and refunded some of the room rate since we couldn’t use the lounge.
