This was our first stay at the Merchant Hotel, although we’ve visited Umuzi Lodge five times now. Reception staff have always been welcoming and friendly, and Elrice exceeded our expectations this time. My husband booked the Honeymoon Suite for our 10-year wedding anniversary, and everything was perfect. We had a special request, and Elrice went above and beyond to make it work. We really appreciate the effort and are very happy clients. Umuzi Lodge is peaceful and relaxing, and each visit feels like an escape from everything, even though it’s only a short distance from home. It holds special memories for our family. Thank you for another unforgettable stay. We’ll definitely be back.

The place was full of mosquitoes. They should let guests know before check-in so we can come prepared, or provide something like mosquito repellent. The rooms also weren’t completely clean, as I saw spider webs inside.

We enjoyed our stay. The lodge and its amenities are very nice, and the self-catering chalets are standard, but okay and reasonably priced.

Everything had been perfect, and I’d even written a positive review, but I’m still waiting for my deposit refund. Apparently the person handling the payment is in hospital. What kind of nonsense is that?

The location is excellent and convenient, and the rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. It was a good experience and I’d recommend Umuzi Lodge. The service was decent, though sometimes a little slow, which is the main thing they could improve.
