Aan de Meul Luxury Apartments

The unit at Aan de Meul in Stellenbosch had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend it.

Despite asking several times, I still haven’t been issued a tax invoice for my stay at Aan De Meul.

At first glance the apartments look modern and chic, and they’re new. We were even allowed into our room early, which was nice, but we can’t recommend the place. The floor and carpet seemed like they’d never been properly cleaned. A wipe with a white cloth came away completely black, and our child’s feet, knees and hands were black every day. After the room was cleaned, the door was left open. Coming back after a day out to find it like that felt unsafe, since another guest could theoretically have gone in. The bed advertised as king-size was at most 1.60 metres wide. With a child sleeping between us, the nights were not restful, especially since we’d specifically looked for king-size beds. There was no hairdryer in the room, which we only discovered after showering in the evening. We didn’t get one until the next day. When we tried the replacement after our next shower, it nearly exploded, sending hundreds of little pieces out the front. No one came to check on us, so we went back to bed with wet hair. This could easily have been avoided. It also looked as if there’d been no final clean after construction, or some work was still unfinished. The door frame was incomplete, screws and rivets were scattered across the lawn, which is actually artificial carpet, and the door hooks were covered in drilling dust. Since other things were quite nice, we’re giving it two stars.
