The grounds are breathtaking, with a pool, rooftop garden and a glass hallway where tranquility and beauty surround you. The house feels like a museum and has been cared for by the 7th generation. Our host went out of his way for us, making sure we got home safely when we came in late several times. The room was comfortable, with thoughtful little touches and clear efforts to save water. It’s a wonderful stay, and stands out even in beautiful Stellenbosch.

Right in the centre of Stellenbosch, Caledon Villa was an unexpected find and very good value. We were warmly welcomed, had a well balanced breakfast and received high quality service in a well maintained guest house that’s been in the family for generations. I loved the mix of historic character and modern finishes. If you’re lucky, the host may invite you to see the family museum. I’d recommend it to anyone who appreciates that kind of stay.

I’ve stayed at Caledon Villa many times on holidays in SA, and I’d recommend it to anyone booking a holiday stay. The garden and pool are lovely and usually quiet, and it’s a short walk to the town centre. Rooms are spacious and have a fan to cool you down. Johan, Ode and all the staff are friendly and helpful. I’ve tried several places in Stellenbosch, but when I’m back, this is where I want to stay.

It was especially meaningful for me to stay somewhere the owner, Johan Krige, has researched the history of the Kriges in South Africa. We had a very pleasant two nights here during the "Woord Fees". Even through load shedding, they served us a great breakfast every morning.
