Our close family joined my son and his new wife for brunch the morning after their first honeymoon night at the hotel. Silas and Rachel served us so beautifully, and nothing we asked for was too much trouble. Before they arrived, Silas had also been incredibly kind, helpful and efficient in managing all my requests. The boutique hotel is beautiful and very peaceful. I highly recommend it, and thank you so much.

The rooms look pretty, but the experience was well below what the premium price suggests. There’s no air conditioning, no water or other drinks in the room, and not even an opener for wine or beer. The pool was dirty after the grass had been cut, and no one had cleaned it. After checking in, we went to the pool, then came back to reception at 16:40 to order dinner, but once again nobody was there to greet us or take the order. We also couldn’t find anyone to book a tour or wine tasting. At check-in, we had already waited 30 minutes for someone to show up at reception. It felt like a ghost “boutique” hotel, and to me this points to a leadership problem, since nobody seemed to step up to give guests a good experience. They advertise lunch from 12 to 2:30, but no one was there; dinner is listed from 6 to 8:30, yet you have to order rather than receive table service. This place isn’t what it appears to be. Spend your money elsewhere.

We’ve visited Ladybird Vineyards twice, and its peaceful, intimate setting really stands out. There’s a small lake, two lovely pools and a carefully planned braai area. It feels like a place to slow down and enjoy the surroundings, and we can imagine it working beautifully for small celebrations or micro-weddings. We’re looking forward to coming back. The staff are friendly and really try to make you feel welcome. The setting is peaceful, though the gate is a bit of a hassle because it doesn’t open automatically and isn’t monitored at the moment. A small investment could probably sort that out. Breakfast was okay, but some dishes felt incomplete, especially the continental option. The rooms also let in quite a bit of light in the morning.
