WINK Quiver Tree

Getting in and out of the secure parking was a hassle. They didn’t give us a remote, and once I waited 8 minutes for someone to open the gate and about 5 minutes on another trip. At check-in they’d said a guard was always on duty and that a little hoot might get their attention, but it took more than that. The room felt like revamped student accommodation with little maintenance, and the online pictures were misleading for what we paid. The floors were filthy, my white socks were black underneath after walking on the apartment floor. There didn’t seem to be an elevator, so be careful if you have limited mobility. The TV was the smallest I’ve seen, and the only two point plug was being used by the wifi router. The shower mixer handle came off in my hand, water leaked out under the glass door and soaked the bathroom floor, and the toilet roll holder was coming off the wall. The lounge seat was ripped and dirty. The area also didn’t seem to be a very good part of town.

The room was very quiet and the shower had good pressure, but we had to leave. After a warm, happy late check-in, I went to the room and found windows left open with mosquitoes inside. The towel rail fell off when I picked up a towel, and the towel had dark stains. There was blood on several pillows and sheets, hair on the duvet and one double bed sheet, and the floor was still dirty enough that my feet were filthy within five minutes of showering. The Hotel replaced the dirty towels and gave me mosquito spray.

We had a lovely three-night stay. The security welcomed my team and me when we arrived very late, around 22h30. The kitchen lady opened the dining area so we could have dinner, and the food was tasty and well prepared. My room was clean and well packed. In the morning, everyone at reception greeted us with a warm smile, and we enjoyed breakfast.

We’ve stayed at Quiver Tree several times over the past year. It’s a perfect overnight spot after a night out in Stellenbosch. The rooms have what you need for the price, and I’ve noticed some subtle upgrades over the year, especially the Smart TV's. Staff are friendly and help where they can. We’ve had occasional WIFI problems, but they’re generally sorted quickly. Cheers till next time!
